40 teachers with false diplomas identified
The Ministry of Education (Meduca) has identified 40 teachers involved in the investigation of the falsification of diplomas to obtain more points in the entity’s vacancy contest says The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos
She stated that Meduca has expanded all the information requested by the Prosecutor’s Office in charge of the investigation and now the entity he directs has begun an internal investigation process in all the education regions to determine if these falsifications have occurred in other areas of the country.
Asked if the educators involved can continue teaching classes, the minister said yes as long as there is no reason for separation and because the investigation is not yet concluded.
According to the minister, it is believed that this case was not operated by a single person, therefore “we are waiting for the recommendations and results of the Prosecutor’s Office in San Miguelito”, which he considered is going quite quickly.
On December 23, 2020, it was learned that the Meduca was carrying out an investigation after detecting that teachers presented forged diplomas from various universities.
The falsifications were presented with the aim of achieving a higher score in the appointment contest that the entity carries out every year.
The discovery was made in the Regional Directorate of Meduca in the district of San Miguelito, where at least 30 adulterated diplomas were discovered.
The adulterated certificates came from higher education centers, such as the Universidad Latina, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology, and the University of Panama.
