At a time when the Health authorities reported a slight increase in Covid-19 cases in three provinces in the interior, in the metropolitan region infections are also increasing with San Francisco and Tocumen,  registering the highest number of infections in the last three days, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

According to the daily reports of the Minsa, San Francisco reported 6 new cases on Tuesday, November 16, the following day 16 and on Thursday 10, for a total of 32 in three days.

Tocumen, in the same time frame, added 23 new infections and the largest number was on Wednesday, November 17 with 10.

The province of Los Santos is one of those that currently have the highest number of active cases with at least 200. The township of Las Tablas also added 23 patients with the virus in the last three days, registering the highest number on Wednesday with 10.

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, reported Thursday that an increase in cases was being noted in Los Santos, Chiriquí and Coclé. In the next few days, it is estimated that active cases in the Santeña region will probably reach 400.

The authorities have indicated that this increase in cases occurs as a result of the mobilization of people to different parts of the country on the occasion of the national holidays at the beginning of the month.

Sucre reiterated that the use of the mask remains mandatory and called on the population to continue complying with biosafety measures.
