Resumption of covid restriction  measures not on the table

Health Ministry counselor Eyra Ruiz, says that for now the resumption of  covid-19 restriction measures is not being evaluated after a slight increase in cases in some sectors of the country.

“We do not have this issue on the table at this time. There are few cases, but the rest of the country is very well controlled. The peak that occurred in Los Santos, everyone knows why it was, ”Ruiz said in statements to Telemetro.

Although Los Santos has a high vaccination rate, more than 93%, there were many people from other provinces, especially from the capital. During the first week of the national holidays, there was a great displacement of people to the interior of the country and the Azuero region was one of the most visited.”

According to data from the Los Santos Health Region, as of November 6, the province registered 27 active cases and until Tuesday’s cut-off, the figure rose to 213.

In addition, the Minister Counselor referred to the concentration of people in the soccer matches of the Panama team, explaining that for the previous matches they expected a significant increase in cases and it did not occur.

“It means that in the previous games people more or less complied, yesterday there was a lot of euphoria. Many people were without a mask. Hopefully, that doesn’t get complicated for us in two weeks, ”said Ruiz.
