COVID-19: Deaths and new infections falling
The number of daily deaths and new infections of Covid-19 in Panama continues on a downward trajectory.
On Sunday, October 17 the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported one death and 102 new infections in the previous 24 hours
According to the report, the cumulative number of deaths has risen to 7,292 since the start of the pandemic. And the accumulated number of cases is 470,264.
In the last hours they applied 4,616 applied tests, yielding a positivity percentage of 2.2.
There are 177 cases in hospital wards and 41 in intensive care units (ICU).
Vaccinations
Meanwhile, the Minsa reported that from the start of Operation PanavaC-19 until this Sunday, , 5,696,937 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 have been applied in the country.
The report details that 3,025,648 correspond to the first dose; 2,630,961 at second dose; 5,212 third doses have been administered to immunosuppressed patients and 35,116 have been third booster doses.
The Minsa highlighted that the epidemiological surveillance report of international travel reveals that in the last hours no passenger positive for Covid-19 was detected at Tocumen International Airport .
The report specifies that since October 12, 2020 to date, a total of 1,856 positive travelers have been detected while the tests carried out at that air terminal add up to 223,045.
