No traditional parades this year – Health Minister
The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, announced on Saturday that this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic “the traditional national parades will not be held in open places, such as streets and avenues.”
However, he clarified that there will be exhibitions of bands in accordance with the program established by the Ministry of Education (Meduca) and the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura).
“Meduca and MiCultura will determine who will participate in these activities and presentations in stadiums,” he said.
“But it is important to be clear that biosafety measures must be maintained.”
Sucre made his statements during a working tour of the Mariato district in the province of Veraguas when he pointed out that Panama is awaiting authorization from pharmaceutical companies and the World Health Organization to approve and apply the dose of vaccine against Covid-19 to the population between 5 to 11 years of age.
He explained that the dose to the population between 5 and 11 years of age would help Panama achieve herd immunity.
In addition, it would proceed to apply it in accordance with the Continuous Vaccination Strategy to guarantee access to the population to the vaccine.
