OPINION: Time to end pandemic restrictions

The measures adopted by the Executive – due to the pandemic – that restrict freedom of movement in the country, such as confinement and curfews, cannot continue as they are.

Although they were justifiable at the beginning of the health calamity, now, when the Ministry of Health has almost half of the population immunized with one or two doses of the anticovid vaccine, it is not justified to keep them without a limit.

In themselves, these measures were controversial, considering that it is a right guaranteed by our Constitution., as if to continue maintaining them without putting an end to them. And there are many reasons to end these restrictions unless they are focused and limited. For example, we have already witnessed abuses with curfews, without consequences for the authorities that are exceeded; To this must be added an enormous number of young people who go for two years without receiving regular classes; commerce is severely affected, first by total confinement, then partial, and now by curfews; As a result, tens of thousands have lost their jobs or went informal. It is urgent to set limits. The Constitution is not an ornament, it was made to be fulfilled. – LA PRENSA, Aug. 21.
