5,500 affected by heavy rains
A yellow alert has been declared for Bocas del Toro and the green is maintained for Chiriquí, Veraguas, and the Ngäbe Buglé region while across the country, there are approximately 5,500 affected by the recent rains, the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) reported Saturday.
The provinces with the highest number of affected are Bocas del Toro, with an approximate number of 5,405; Veraguas (31); Chiriquí (22); Herrera (21) and Coclé (15).
In Bocas del Toro there are currently 327 people housed in Almirante and Changuinola, who are receiving medical care and food.
there have been, in the last hours, 27 rescues of people trapped by rising rivers and floods.
According to the Sinaproc report, there are 1,095 homes affected by the floods, in Bocas, Chiriquí, Veraguas, and Herrera.
In Coclé, 3 landslides were reported and 5 in the province of Bocas del Toro.
