Third covid wave has arrived – Health Minister
The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre , confirmed on Friday, June 18, that Panama is facing a third wave of Covid-19,
Sucre said that indeed the country has already entered that third wave with the increase in cases of covid-19, but that the important thing will be that it does not hit as it did in the first and second.
“Let’s make the effect of this third wave soft, gradual and that it does not cause great effects on the health of the Panamanian population and alterations in the health system. And of course, also avoiding that it causes much more serious injuries to the economy ”, said Sucre.
The Minister also referred to the case of a person who after being vaccinated against the virus became infected and later died, stating that this patient suffered from an immunodeficiency disease.
The statements of the minister were made during his visit to the vaccination post that was set up in the Albrook Mall shopping center. He announced that there is the possibility of adapting other shopping centers to continue with the immunization with doses of AstraZeneca.
