154 vaccinated health workers  show mild symptoms of covid-19

The coordinator of Nosocomial Infections of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Gladys Guerrero, said on TeleMetro that over 27,000 vaccinated officials of the entity  154 have tested positive covid-19  after receiving at least one dose against the virus.

But of those 154, only 44 have had the two doses already applied. The others developed Covid when they still had the first dose and the second had not been applied, ”Guerrero said Thursday.

Of the total number of positive cases in the CSS staff nationwide, none have required hospitalization.

Guerrero stressed that the majority of the 63 infected in the Chirican medical center did not present symptoms and that the rest showed mild symptoms.

“As has been pointed out, the vaccine prevents the hospitalization of serious cases and deaths; the risk of becoming infected is there, yes it is low, it has been shown that it goes down so that you contract it as well as that you transmit it, but the possibility that you have an asymptomatic Covid or a mild Covid is present, ”said Guerrero.

Faced with this situation, he reiterated the importance of continuing to comply with biosecurity measures, especially when the country has not achieved a herd immunity that allows these measures to be changed.

Health personnel were immunized in the first phase of vaccination, which began on January 20, with doses of Pfizer.
