VACCINATION: Time to use private sector
The numbers of the pandemic once again show worrying levels that have led specialists to warn that we are in the presence of a third wave, that is, new spikes in infections and deaths due to Covid-19. We are experiencing this when hundreds of thousands of vaccines have arrived in the country, with which the population is being immunized. However, the pace of implementation does not seem to be as fast as this crisis warrants. The Ministry of Health is reluctant to offer private clinics and hospitals that have been made available to speed up vaccination days. The Health Authority is determined to maintain strict control over vaccines, which in practice is not the case. We have witnessed irregularities, in which supporters have been privileged, politicians, and officials, so it is inexplicable that, having had failures, does not want to give the private sector the opportunity to be of use in these immunization sessions. Meanwhile, the population must continue to observe the recommended hygienic measures, in order to keep this third wave of infections and deaths at bay, which could be worse than the previous ones, considering the potential danger posed by the presence in the country of new variants of the virus.- LA PRENSA, Jun 15
