Hotel and restaurant fined $5000 apiece for flouting covid-19 rules
The Metropolitan Region of Health of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) fined the owners of La Fragata restaurant and the Westin hotel in Playa Bonita $5,000 s each for failing to comply with the regulations established for the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Israel Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region, La Fragata restaurant also received the sanction of temporary closure for a month.
Cedeño said that the closure expires on June 2, so they will be able to resume operations from Thursday, June 3.
He also highlighted that both La Fragata and the hotel have already canceled the fines
Sanctions were also imposed on two Red Lion locations, located in Bella Vista and San Felipe.
Cedeño clarified that the Red Lion store in San Felipe closed its operations permanently, while the Bella Vista site was fined $1,500.
Two weeks ago at the Playa Bonita hotel, there was an Arab music festival in which the biosecurity measures were breached. The event spanned four days and featured musicians and singers from Asia and Europe.
The Red Lion bar received the sanction because there was a party with a capacity of more than 300 people when only 30 could enter the premises.
