16 arrests, 15 recovered vehicles in police raids

Operation Condado II “carried out the Public  byMinistry in conjunction with the National Police and the National Customs Authority in the provinces of Panama and Colón led to the arrest of 16 people and the recovery of 15 vehicles

The recovered vehicles in the May 17 to 20 operation, had complaints of customs evasion, robbery, theft, alteration of documentation, and change of identity.

The 16 people apprehended are under investigation at the orders of the Public Ministry, for their alleged involvement in crimes against public faith, misappropriation, robbery and others, reported the superior prosecutor of Colón and Guna Yala, Melissa Navarro.

Meanwhile, the Public Ministry is locating the owners of the recovered vehicles who reside in other provinces of the country.

Colón is being used as a collection center for stolen vehicles in other parts of the country by a criminal organization, which also manages the registration of these in the municipalities of the province, which has sparked another investigation.
