President vetoes private schools discounts
A bill giving discount’s to private schools and rejected by several business sectors has been vetoed by President Laurentino Cortizo
It was proposed to regulate the percentage of discounts to private schools and universities if the teaching modality is virtual, blended or face-to-face throughout the country.
The project proposed a 35% discount for private schools with more than 1,200 students and would apply to universities with an enrollment of more than 400 students.
In the note signed by Cortizo and sent to the president of the National Assembly, Marcos Castillero, the president makes it clear that he has found reasons that allow him to object to it as a whole as “inconvenient and unenforceable.”
