Curfew hours reduced, bars open

Curfew hours will be, from 12:00 am to 4:00 am, throughout the country starting  Monday April 19, along with the  opening of bars with terraces and outdoor sports activities.

The  changes  come  because: ‘’Panama has achieved a positivity of cases below 3.9%; and is one of the countries with the fewest active cases and with 97% of patients recovered from Covid-19, in addition, the lethality is the lowest in the region with 1.7%  said Health Minister Luis Francisco Sucre.

Sports activities that will be allowed must also take place outdoors and the allowed capacity will be 25%. In these events the sale and consumption of liquor will not be allowed.

The weekend quarantine in the district of Changuinola, province of Bocas del Toro, is also lifted, as of this Saturday, April 17, due to the favorable rates of recent weeks. However, the Minister of Health expressed concern about the increase in infections in the district of Bocas del Toro.

“The announcement does not mean that we have won the battle against the virus, on the contrary, it implies that we must not lower our guard and continue to maintain biosecurity measures.” said the Minister.
