‘No escape danger’ for man on the run for six years
Adolfo Chichi De Obarrio’s lawyer, Gabriele Minitti, says there is no danger of escape by his client who has been on the run since Christmas Day 2014 when he fled Panama with his wife.
Minitti has filed an appeal with the Italian courts to revoke the preventive detention applied to his client after he was arrested on Wednesday in Milan by agents of the Italian State Police.
The former private secretary of former President Ricardo Martinelli and one of his closest collaborators, Adolfo Chichi De Obarrio, has been held in a cell in the maximum-security prison of San Vittore, in Milan, since he was arrested.
It is one of the largest prisons in Italy, where great mafia bosses have served time, such as Francesco Bonura, right hand of the Cosa Nostra boss, or Francesco Catalado, sentenced to life imprisonment for having dissolved his 13-year-old son in acid.
