Royal Caribbean resumes cruises for the vaccinated

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. plans to resume its Caribbean voyages in June carrying vaccinated passengers and  departing from the Bahamas, but voyages from US ports will have to wait.

The company’s namesake line, Royal Caribbean, is scheduling seven-night cruises on the Adventure of the Seas ship, departing from Nassau and visiting its private island Coco Cay, as well as Grand Bahama and Cozumel, in Mexico. The company will require that all adult passengers be vaccinated. Those under 18 must have a negative test.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has not given cruise companies authorization to sail in national waters. Short trips that involve companies’ private islands can provide a relatively controlled environment to resume travel.
