3,850 schools plan return to classroom

Panama has joined a Central American initiative for a safe and gradual return to face-to-face classes with  3,850  public schools in the country planning to return to the classroom.

Some 60% of public educational centers must comply with the biosafety guidelines prepared for the return to classes and that must be endorsed by the Ministry of Health, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

” The 60% of the schools are made up of: 825 schools with an enrollment of 1 to 25 students, 1,100 schools with an enrollment of 26 to 250 students and 1,925 multigrade schools,” states a report from the Meduca press office.

It is specified that the schools, the educational community, made up of parents, teachers and the community, as well as the Ministry of Health, will be the ones who will decide the gradual return and the model to follow.
