Prince Harry has talked to father and brother after Oprah interview

Prince Harry spoke to his father and brother after he and his wife Meghan Markle made accusations of racism in the British royal family during an explosive television interview, a friend of both said Tuesday, March 16.

The couple, who renounced their obligations to the British crown last year and now live in California, made shocking revelations to Oprah Winfrey as they explained their departure from active royal life.

Prince Henry, 36, said he was “really disappointed” by his father, Prince Charles, who had stopped taking his phone calls for a while, and noted that financial support had been “cut off”. He also signaled a estrangement from his older brother, Prince William.

He said that both Carlos, the heir to Queen Elizabeth II, and Guillermo, were “trapped” by the conventions of the monarchy. “They cannot leave. And I have great compassion for that, ”said Enrique.

The Dukes of Sussex later specified that this person was neither the queen, 94, nor her husband Felipe, 99, but their statements shook the British monarchy.

Meghan, a 39-year-old former actress, also told Oprah Winfrey that she was “naively” unprepared for life as royalty and had contemplated suicide while pregnant with Archie.

Gayle King, an American television host who is a friend of Oprah Winfrey and the couple, said Tuesday that Enrique had had contact with the royal family.

“I actually called them to see how they were feeling, and it is true that Enrique has spoken with his brother and also with his father,” King told CBS .

“What they told me was that those conversations weren’t productive, but they’re glad they at least started a conversation,” he added.

King said the couple was “frustrated” that alleged racism in the royal family had dominated the news agenda since the interview aired on March 7.
