Son of Martinelli in Guatemala Court Monday

Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares, the younger son of former  President   Ricardo Martinelli will return to The Fifth Criminal Sentencing Court of Guatemala on Monday, March 8 to continue the hearing suspended on Friday so that the defense can read the files.

Martinelli appeared Friday, to learn the reasons for the extradition requested by the United States, to face money laundering,  charges but after several interventions, it was rescheduled.

At the hearing, Dennis Cuesy, the defense lawyer, said that the court cannot hear the process, arguing that the judges have already issued their opinion by deciding that his client does not have immunity.

.Martinelli Linares, 38, along with his brother Ricardo Alberto Martinelli Linares, 40, was arrested on July 6, 2020, at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala, following an extradition request to face money laundering charges linked to Oderbrecht bribes.
