Sex-Ed bill aims to reduce child pregnancies
Panama registers 29 child pregnancies a day and a new initiative to introduce a sexual education law to encourage the protection of minors in the country is proposed by the independent deputy Gabriel Silva, under the title “Education for the prevention of pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections and sexual crimes “
It proposes that sexual education topics be offered in government and private schools, with the knowledge and consent of the parents.
Many previous attempts have failed with strong opposition from religious groups.
