45,535 Covid jabs administered, more next week
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that until 4:00 pm, on Saturday, February 20, 45,535 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 were applied throughout the country.
The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre said that the first dose does not produce immunity immediately. “Just after the first dose is applied, on the tenth day the body begins to strengthen its immune system,” Sucre said.
“The vaccine will not prevent us from getting infected, what it prevents is a serious disease, so we must not forget that after being vaccinated we must continue to take care of ourselves until our immune system is strengthened,” he said.
Minister Sucre said that as the other batches of vaccines arrive in Panama, the phases and stages of the vaccination process of Operation PanavaC-19 will be followed throughout the country.
the Deputy Minister of Health, Ivette Berrío, said that the third batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will arrive in Panama next week, and this time there will be 77,200 doses.
