No carnival high jinks this year

The traditional carnival festivals are suspended throughout the country this year, and will be replaced by total lockdown as part of the measures to curb  the spread of covid –19.

Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14 will be a total quarantine, while Monday 15 will be a normal working day said the Ministry of Health.

 February 16, Shrove Tuesday, will be free and  Ash Wednesday, Feb 17 will be a regular working day.  

Panama is not alone  in canceling carnival activities. Brazil and Colombia have previously announced suspensions.
