Colombia Defense Minister dies from coronavirus

The Colombian Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo died Tuesday at the age of 69 from complications arising from Covid-19 .

Carlos Holmes Trujillo passed away early today, after complications in his health while battling Covid-19,” lamented the president, Iván Duque, in a video posted on his Twitter account.

Trujillo had been hospitalized since January 11, and four days later he was taken to the intensive care unit of the Central Military Hospital in Bogotá for “acute deterioration of his lung function,” according to a bulletin released by the Ministry of Defense.
