Habeas Corpus for Parlacen deputy
The plenary session of the Supreme Court granted a unanimous habeas corpus to Carlos Outten, a deputy of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) , who was arrested last Thursday, January 21, in the protest staged by members of the movement Just Cause in the province of Colón.
The plenary ruled habeas corpus in an extraordinary session held Friday, January 22, where it declared Outten’s detention illegal and ordered his immediate release.
The speaker was Judge Luis Ramón Fábrega Sánchez.
The protest in which this Parlacen deputy participated was to demand jobs and economic reactivation in Colón.
Outten is a deputy for Cambio Democrático, and his alternate is Ricardo Martinelli Linares , who to date has not been sworn in or has held office, and remains detained in Guatemala, to face an extradition process to the United States.
