Impoverished school bus driverss block city highways

School bus owners closed all the lanes of Balboa Avenue and the Cinta Costera on Tuesday, September 6, seeking to pressure the Government to take them into account and establish a real return to work date to for covid-19.

Spokespersons said that almost seven months have passed since face-to-face classes were suspended, and they have not been able to work and cover their debts.

Although some are receiving the solidarity bonus, it does not cover basic needs and debts.

Eduardo Monte, one of the spokesmen said there are some 1,600 collegiate bus plates. “They charge us from date to date and have not given us a response for a time table,” he said.

Hugo Castillero, another spokesman said that during this time he has been selling donuts, but that does not cover all his commitments or basic needs, such as the internet for distance classes, for his children.
