Seven under arrest for  highway murder of political activist

FIVE arrests on Thursday night October 1, brings to seven the total of suspects allegedly connected to the highway assassination of a PRD activist in August.

They are “fully linked to this case,” said the superior prosecutor for homicide and femicide, Rafael Baloyes. These are in addition to the two people who had previously been arrested for this same case

Baloyes   said that the apprehensions occurred during operations in different sectors of the capital, such as Los Andes, Betania and Arnulfo Arias.

He said  that during the raids  also found cash in a residence, which would be “the product of the payment for  this crime,” in addition to various firearms.

This proves the existence in the country of criminal structures that are dedicated to acts of hired assassins, emphasized the prosecutor.

Officials from the Public Ministry, the Judicial Investigation Directorate and the National Police Intelligence Directorate of the National Police participated in the operations.

The murder of the PRD activist occurred at noon on Thursday, August 27, in the South corridor, near Llano Bonito.
