Frontline covid-19 nurses lack protective equiment

Constant protests by frontline nurses and regular appeals for protective equipment (PPE)  to face the COVID-19 pandemic,go largely unheeded  and they are forced to improvise.

Ana Reyes de Serrano president of the National Association of Nurses of Panama (ANEP), said that the requests that they send to the vice president José Gabriel Carrizo ” come in drips and drops She told TVN that every day she receives photographs and voice messages from nurses at the Doctor Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex, and from specifically from the Nicolás Solano Hospital and at the national level reporting their needs.

She stressed that they have to manage to treat patients with improvised shoes and gowns and live  “with the fear of catching COVID-19  which has infected dozens of nurses and killed four.
