Four government staffers lose jobs over curfew party

Four   government    officials  who participated in an event in the La Fragata  Restaurant  in Obarrio  after  the curfew  imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. have  “made their positions available”

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, announced  at a press conference on  Tuesday, September 1.

Sucre said that two officials from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) “were asked to make their positions available and they have done so” until the investigation of the Metropolitan Health Region is concluded.

He said  that the Customs official  who was suspended without pay is currently undergoing a disciplinary process, which he did not detail.He e added that the Miviot [Ministry of Housing and Land Management] official, who was expoed  last week for theatening emloyees  whi did not post “likes” for the Minister  made his  position available as of Tuesday.

On  Monday, the Metropolitan Health Region concluded the administrative report of the events that occurred in the restaurant last week and it was delivered to Minister Sucre. Seven people participated in the event, according to the investigation.

The representatives of La Fragata were summoned in order to expand the file and establish the financial sanction for the business.

The owner of the premises, at the time, said there was no official from Minsa, but he did admit that there were seven people in the meeting, said the head of the Metropolitan Health Region, Israel Cedeño.

Earlier this year a dinner r meeting washeld by the National Executive Committee of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), at the Jimmy restaurant in San Francisco. And the Minsa imposed a fine of $50,000 on the owners of the restaurant and the same amount on the PRD.
