El Valle goes dry as virus spreads
The tourist village of El Valle will be “dry” for the next 15 days to prevent the spread and increase of Covid-19 cases So far there are 37 active cases in the community, according to health authorities.
The measure took effect on Tuesday, September 1, and the Mayor’s decree prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages in open and closed premises and consumption in public areas.
The municipal rule sets a penalty of $1,000 for the owner of an establishment caught committing the offense, in addition to the temporary closing of the premises which could also face permanent closure
Consumers disobeying the decree, face a fine ranging from $50 to $500 and the confiscation of any alcoholic beverages found.
In addition to the temporary prohibition law from Monday to Sunday, the Mayor’s Office said that it will enforce the established curfew from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.
