30 Covid deaths  bring 5-month total to 1,639

The daily death tally from COVID-19 surged to 30  on Sunday, August 9,  bringing the total who have died from the disease since it first struck in Panama five months ago to 1,639 a fatality rate of 2.2%

There are  to24,105 active cases of whom 1,641 are hospitalized, including 167 in ICU according to the epidemiological  of the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

The report, listed  841 new cases bringing the cumulative total to 74,492.

Tests on  Sunday totaled  2,768 with an alarming 30% positivity rate.

There are 48,748 recovered patients
