Israeli conman who escaped La Joyita, killed in Ecuador jail

Israeli conman Shy Dahan , who escaped from the La Joyita Penitentiary in June 2018 and who was captured after two years on the run, was killed in an Ecuador prison.
His body was found at dawn on Saturday, August 8, inside the coastal penitentiary, in the province of Guayas.
Shy Dahan , was arrested at the beginning of June and was in a cell of the Consular Pavilion where he was being held for an alleged.
Dahan was in the prison for the alleged scam under a false identity in the sale of medical supplies including masks and rapid detection tests for COVID 19.
He was extradited from Spain to Panama in March 2018 for a fraud case of more than half a million dollars, for which he was being held in La Joyita, until his escape.
Fellow Israeli Oren Sheinman who had been arrested, along with Dahan was injured
Sheinman’s attorney, Héctor Gabriel Vanegas, confirmed. in a message on Twitter, that both foreigners suffered “an attack.”
On June 2, the day they were arrested, they were found with about $100,000. When his house in the city of Santa Elena was searched another $200,000 and three high-end vehicles were found Ecuadorian media reported.
Both men carried forged documents identifying them as members and representatives of the DEA
In the testimonies of Dahan and Sheinman, which are part of a judicial process, they allegedly indicated having sold medical supplies to Jacobo Bucaram, who is being investigated, along with his brothers Michel and Abdalá, for allegedly illegally selling medicines during the emergency. All three are children of former Ecuadorian president Abdalá Bucaram.
“Today they assassinate an Israeli who they tried to use him my son Jacobo […] they will surely want to murder my children, we are in a defenseless state … we are experiencing state terrorism,” was Bucaram’s reaction published on social networks after learning of the attack.
