OPINION: A country with no rudder
Growth projections for the economy continue to decline, that is, they worsen as confinement continues. This means that thousands of people will lose jobs or part of their income. The worst part of the crisis is on the shoulders of the private sector since the Government has done very little to balance the balance and, what is worse, there are evident irregularities that reduce the limited resources to combat the pandemic. Some of the proposals to face the crisis are of a populist nature, which puts at risk the existence of companies that employ thousands and that will later be needed to revive the economy. It seems that the country lacks a compass and leadership and that the imagination of our officials does not stop, while we look helplessly at the collapse of the economy. It is up to citizens to guess what the Government will do in the face of our immediate future since there is no one to report anything or anyone to complain about the mistakes made. Obviously, they would be less wrong if they consulted more, but incapacity has been combined with power. And this is the sad result. LA PRENSA, Jul 17
