OPINION: The Arrogance of Power
The National Assembly recently contracted a sumptuous remodel exclusively for the bench of the ruling PRD. So why did they choose a restaurant to meet to make a decision of the Legislative? Because they feel unpunished. To make matters worse, with a total absence of common sense, a Minister of State attended the event, despite the fact that she knows very well the ravages caused by the health crisis.
For this reason, the protesters who reacted with a spontaneous protest made evident the outrage of Panamanians and, thus, defended public opinion by expressing their rejection of partisan political brazenness.
It was not a miscalculation, as politicians hide, but an act of pride and contempt for citizens, who pay their wages and are victims of their decisions. When the practice of differential justice between citizens and those with political connections was already evident, now they send us the message that the rules should only be followed by defenseless citizens. Enough of so much privilege and arrogance of power. Patience ran out LA PRENSA, June 22
