Quarantine flouters on the rise as death toll nears 200

The number of people flouting coronavirus quarantine rules continues to rise along with a daily increase in new cases. Over 18,000 quarantine abusers  were detained in April.

The Ministry of Health reports that   188  new infections bring the total since the virus first struck in Panama to  6,720  with 192 deaths on Friday, May 1 at the start of a three-day lockdown.

There are 3,061 people, in-home isolation, 1,127 are in hotels, 361 are hospitalized. (276  in wards and 85 in intensive care).

31,895 tests have been carried out, of which 7,538 positive results and 24,357  negative.
