OPINION: No winners with erratic decisions
The President of the Republic modified yesterday what was communicated by the Minister of Education the previous day, about the temporary suspension of private education, including that which was taught through digital platforms.
Medusa’s decision seemed improvised, a kind of political response to pseudo-popular pressure from social networks and a tiny sector of the ruling party itself. We are facing the most critical and sensitive period that the country has lived in 30 years. It is not appropriate to give the impression that the government is politicizing institutional actions in the face of the pandemic. The entire country has been supporting the president for his candor, his sensitivity and his ability to respond to national problems. It would be an enormous tragedy if the citizens lose confidence in presidential decisions and if, due to a bad step taken in the heat of battle, the administration’s credibility collapses. It is not in anyone’s interest to lose support for the good faith of government action. In that scenario there are no winners.- LA PRENSA, Apr.17
