Keys to new COV-19 hospital delivered in record time

Panama President Laurentino Cortizo received the keys of the Panama Solidarity modular hospital on Thursday, April 16 and passed them on to Health Minister Rosario Turner and Social Security Fund (CSS), Director Enrique Lau Cortés.

The  $5 million hospital was built in 28 days to serve COVID-19 patients.

Cortizo toured the hospital and said that it was apparent that it was a center with high technology for intensive care and moderate patients.

He said that “it gives off good vibes” and that Panama has listened to scientists and people who know, not to make decisions on a whim, but based on evidence.

On April 6, the Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge said that the modular could be operational by April 20.

It  has  three care modules, three nursing centers, a laboratory, a CT scanner, biosafety locks, rest areas for health personnel, where doctors can bathe before going to their houses and administrative areas
