Free Zone merchant rents suspended for three months

The Colon Free Zone where numerous businesses have already shut down has suspended the payment of leasing fees for   April, May, and June.

The decision brought about by the coronavirus crisis was made by the ZLC board of directors, chaired by  Minister of Commerce and Industries, Ramón Martínez on April 8.

The suspension of the payment of the leases was requested by the Association of Users “as a form of temporary relief to the decrease in income” of the companies.

The measure will not apply to those companies whose Declarations of Electronic Commercial Movement (DMCE) show export movement, which will be verified by the Commercial Operations Directorate of the ZLC.
