30  years on Pretty Woman still turns heads

Thirty years after, “Pretty Woman”, the movie that broke box office records at its premiere,  and is now a classic, with memorable scenes, in which the wardrobe of the protagonist, created by Marilyn Vance, continues to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for designers and stylists reports EFE.

Three decades have passed since the March 23, 1990 debut of the love story

between Viviam (Julia Roberts, 23) and Edward (Richard Gere, 41), a comedy that has marked a before and after in the history of cinema.

In the same way that the love story between Vivian and Edward continues to  hook, the careful wardrobe, work of the designer Marilyn Vance, who once seduced European royalty, continues to arouse so much interest that many of her designs are booming.

Since the movie was released, Julia Roberts has become “America’s Smile” and a

fashion icon. Her wide smile and her curly red hair have been her  hallmarks.”Pretty Woman” has left memorable scenes of great stylistic force for the fashion universe; Just remember Vivian in her apartment ready to go to work stuffed in a very tight elastic dress and mini skirt, blonde wig, black cap and super high boots in patent leather with zipper, a set for which many young people of the Z generation sigh.

Still in the retinas of stylists and designers is the image of Vivian bathing in foam

with her headphones on singing “Kiss” by Prince, while an astonished Richard Gere watches her, or leaving a prestigious boutique on Rodeo Drive wearing  a white dress  with straight shoulders, midi length and puffed sleeves,

“A classic and demure piece, which is still valid today,” designer Jorge Vázquez, creative director of the Pertegaz firm, explained to Efe, and acknowledging that the costumes for that film are “fabulous”.
