Canal Authority records first virus case

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP)  reported on Thursday March 19 the first confirmed case of coronavirus among its 10,000 staff and all the workers who have had contact with the infected person were immediately isolated.

 

The ACP clarified that during this crisis caused by the new coronavirus, it has handled all the protocols established by the health authorities.

 It also said that the relevant tests have been carried out in the presence of collaborators with symptoms of the new virus.

 

The administration said that since the beginning of the health alert in the operational areas, workplaces and offices, cleaning and disinfection have been reinforced, as well as the supply of hygiene materials that allow employees to continue recommendations for hand and face washing, among others.

The ACP did not specify in which area of operations the infected person  .worked
