New York Port Authority chief  tests positive for coronavirus

Rick Cotton the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has  tested positive for coronavirus said US authorities on Monday, March 9

Cotton is responsible for operations at major airports, bus terminals, bridges and tunnels and is currently in quarantine at home.

New York, Governor, Andrew Cuomo, said that Cotton was in contact with many people returning from countries with the virus and that he probably contracted covid-19 at Kennedy International Airport.

Cotton, 70, was in his residence, but ahowed  no symptoms of the coronavirus, The New York Times reported.

“I am in quarantine at home right now,” said  the official responded according to the newspaper.

Meanwhile  in addition to. Cotton, other senior Port Authority officials who were in contact with the executive director are being examined to detect if they are infected with the virus.
