"Disturbing picture" of Boeing's security response

Boeing sent new documents to the US Congressional Transportation Committee on Monday that “appear to show a very disturbing picture” of the aeronautical company’s response to the security problems of its 737 MAX model, a congressional adviser said Tuesday.

The company sent the documents “late on Monday night”, hours after announcing the immediate resignation of its executive director, Dennis Muilenburg, said the assistant of that committee investigating the 737 MAX, suspended from flight since March 13 after starring in two fatal accidents.

However, he did not specify whether these documents spoke of the situation before or after the accidents of Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines, which occurred at the end of October 2018 and March 10, respectively.

“The staff continues to examine these documents but, as with other reports released by Boeing previously, they seem to show a very disturbing picture regarding two of the concerns expressed by Boeing employees: about the company’s commitment to safety, and efforts of some employees to make sure that Boeing production projects are not harmed by regulators or others, “he explained.

The various investigations carried out by the aviation authorities in Indonesia, where the Lion Air plane crashed, or in Ethiopia, where the Ethiopian Airlines accident occurred, pointed to the 737 MAX MCAS stabilization system as responsible for the accidents .
