Six National Police probed following Panama jail massacre

 

Six agents of the National Police (PN) are under investigation following the December 17  gun battle in La Joyita prison that left 15 dead and a dozen injured. More police probes are expected

Jorge Miranda. Director of the PN said Miranda said the officers are suspended from duty and the results of the inquiries will determine whether the number of agents under investigation increases.

He said that police actions will continue within prisons, where a thousand police officers have been drafted in as ordered by President, Laurentino Cortizo.

He that in six months, 10 seizure operations have been carried out in the penitentiaries and. “It is surprising how the system could have reached this level of deterioration,” said the official.

Since the massacre police raids have uncovered multiple weapons including an AK 47, heavy caliber pistols machetes, and knives. Along with drugs, cell phones, and laptops.
