Consumer protection body hits 87 Black Friday miscreants
BLACK FRIDAY got blacker for some merchants who strayed from the path in promoting their deals and face fines ranging from $600 to $25,000, handed out by the Consumer Protection Authority (ACODECO).
Breach of the veracity of the information in the offers was the anomaly most detected by the Authority.
Jorge Quintero, the administrator of Acodeco, said that during the weekend, the entity verified 1,329 business premises, and detected 87 infringements were detected,
In some cases, businesses did not specify the expiration date of their offers, nor did they clarify to the consumer public whether the discount was total or partial.
