Harpy Festival marks eagle’s 10th birthday
“Panama” a harpy eagle, , celebrated its 10th birthday on Sunday, September 22 at the Summit Municipal Park with a Harpy Festival including clowns, stage performances, folk dances, magicians, a photography contest and costumes alluding to the harpy eagle
“The presence of the harpy eagle, the national bird of the country, is important for ecosystems and because of its predatory condition, it is required to maintain healthy forests, since this species is on the cusp of the food chain, so its environmental conservation value is significant.” said, park administrator Edgar Araúz.
“Panaonmentalma” was born in 2009, at the Miami Zoo, Florida, and arrived at the park when it was 3 years old and has had visits from 39.706 people according to the Mayor’s Office.
