Three priests suspended for “scandalous behavior"
Three Catholic Priests Rogelio Topin, Orlando Rivera and Karl Madrid have been suspended from their duties due to “inappropriate and scandalous behavior, says a report published by the Archdiocese of Panama on Saturday, September 21.
The measure was taken on September 6 after the hierarchy of the Catholic Church received information on the behavior of priests, reports La Prensa.
“So far, the Archdiocesan Church has not been informed that there is any accusation against these priests, but this provision has been taken to suspend them in order to restore justice, seek the conversion of the clergy and repair the scandal caused.” says a statement published on its website.
The named priests may not administer any sacrament – Eucharist, reconciliation, baptism, anointing of the sick, or witnessing marriage – the statement said.
“We reaffirm once again our unrestricted commitment to the search for truth and justice, the only way to truly repair and heal our Church. We reiterate our position of” zero tolerance “to any kind of abuse, especially to minors and vulnerable people “, says the Archdiocese.
