Kennedy Airport door dedicated to Mariano Rivera
A DOOR carrying his name and number was dedicated to Panamanian Mariano Rivera at the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, on Tuesday, July 16. He will enter the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday.
Rivera, who retired from the majors in 2013 after 19 seasons, all with the Yankees, told the Daily News: “Not every day you have a door dedicated to you. I am humbled and happy about that.”
Rivera, 49 is the only player selected to the Hall of Fame unanimously with 100% of the votes. He is the second Panamanian selected after Rod Carew in 1991.
