Weekend alert for Pacific Coast beaches
A prevention alert for Panama’s Pacific Coast was issued by the Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) at noon on Friday and remains in effect until midnight Sunday
“The Emergency Operation Center ‘s warning is due to waves that will oscillate from 0.5 to 3.0 meters in height and periods of 11 to 16 seconds accompanied by winds of 15 to 35 kilometers per hour.
The coasts of Chiriquí, Veraguas, Coclé, Panamá Oeste, Panamá and Darién are under the prevention warning.
On the beaches of Los Santos, Veraguas and Chiriqui the waves will be able to reach greater heights.
“The conditions of 11 to 16 seconds tell us that it will be a disorderly wave, that is, very close waves, with difficulty for the navigation of small boats,” says Sinaproc director Omar Smith.
Citizens should follow the warnings of the security agencies such as the Maritime Authority, National Aeronaval Service, National Border Service, and Sinaproc.
