Homicide prosecutor opens gas explosion probe
Superior homicide prosecutor, Emeldo Márquez, has opened a judicial inquiríy at the towers of the PH Costa Mare, in Costa Azul, Don Bosco, which were affected by a gas explosion on Friday, May 31.
Márquez said on Monday, June 3 that the Public Prosecutor’s Office expects the report of the Panama Fire Department to determine whether it is a fraudulent or negligent act reports TVN,
He said that interviews have been conducted with residents of PH Costa Mare but there are victims who have not yet been able to talk because they are still in shock. Juan de Arco, from the Security Directorate of the Fire Department, confirmed that apartment 2, on floor 2 of Tower 7, is the point where the explosion originated. De Arco said that tightness tests are carried out on the building’s gas system. In addition, the administration of PH Costa Mare has been asked to present some documents, including evacuation plans.
Other residents affected by the explosion are staying at a hotel in El Cangrejo and are now awaiting the promoter to provide answers about their homes in a building declared uninhabitable by the Civil Protection System (Sinaproc).
