Metro Line 2 fare at 50c, less for seniors
Traveling on the 21 kilometers of Panama’s Metro Line 2 will be 50 cents from Monday, May 13.
President Juan Carlos Varela signed the executive decree informed on Thursday, May 9
The decree establishes that all Panamanians or foreigners residing in the country aged with 55 years or over if they are women; or 60 or over men, retirees, and pensioners and persons with disabilities duly identified, “will enjoy a discount equivalent to 30% of the value of the full fixed rate”. That is, they will pay 35 cents. Students get a 50% discount
To take advantage of the discount interested parties must process their personalized card for use in the Panama Metro at the offices located at the Albrook and Los Andes stations.
Line 2 was inaugurated on April 25 by Varela and was built by the Line 2 Consortium (Brazil’s Odebrecht and Spain’s FCC Construcción), at a cost of $ 2. 13 billion. It has 16 overhead stations, all high, and according to projections will transport some 200,000 passengers a day in the first months of operation
The 21 kilometers, the journey from San Miguelito to Nuevo Tocumen takes 35 minutes.
