21 km Metro Line 2 97% complete
ia 97% Line 2 of the Panama Metro is 97% complete and will be opened in April by President, Juan Carlos Varela. In time for the May 5 election.
The final works are focused on the placement of the side covers in some of the 16 stations, and accesses, interconnection work of lines 1 and 2 in San Miguelito, and the latest tests of the integrated systems of the stations and trains.
In the Metro’s train yard and workshop area, there are 17 trains, which are subjected to dynamic tests.
Line 2 of the Metro will have 21 kilometers of elevated track and will benefit more than 98 communities and 48 educational centers.
In its initial stage, it is expected that it will transport approximately 16,000 people an hour, in both directions.
